How it is put together

Nothing the measurement has a word for. It reads eight shapes off a picture: bands, a canton, a wedge at the pole, a disc. This flag is not any of them, so the space is left empty rather than filled with a description nobody took. The finder says what else it cannot see.

What is on it

Each of these is what this flag's own Wikipedia article says is on it, the sentence is underneath, so you can see what it rests on.

  • sun

The design is a red field with an inverted isosceles triangle based on the top edge of the field pointed toward the bottom edge of the field bearing the horizontal tricolour of black, light blue (half width) and white with the rising sun centred on top of the black band.

What we know about it

More than 600 people entered the competition, and the winning design was Sir Reginald Samuel's; it came in on 27 February 1967 to mark the achievement of self-government, eleven days after royal assent to the West Indies Act 1967, and was kept after full independence on 1 November 1981. The rising sun is the dawning of a new era, black is for the African ancestry of the people, blue for hope and for the Caribbean Sea, the red for energy or life; the V-shape is the symbol of victory, and the seven points stand for the six parishes and the island of Barbuda.

Drafted from Flag of Antigua and Barbuda on Wikipedia, as it read on 2026-08-26, and checked back against it: every date, name and number above appears in the sentences it was written from. Nobody here wrote it by hand.

Its day

The almanac keeps a page per day of the year that something is dated to. This flag is on one of them, with the sentence that says so.

Nearest in the world

Every flag is compared with every other one, off the pictures themselves. Two copies of one picture score 0; these are the closest to this one. How that is measured.
