Where the colours come from
Every flag here is a drawing, and the drawing is what was measured: how much of it is painted in each colour, down to the exact shade. Nothing was typed in from anybody's description, which is why the plainest flag on this site comes back with 1 colour and the busiest with 6. Each shade is then filed under the nearest ordinary colour word — and every flag's own page shows you both.
