Colours
Read from the flag itself, down to the exact shade.
- #e70013
- #ffffff
Other flags with red or white or all of red and white at once.
How it is put together
Measured off the picture, the same way the colours were, not from anybody's description of it.
- a single-coloured ground
The fly edge and the foot are one colour, and the same one, whatever else is drawn on top of it.
- a disc
A single round device near the middle, as wide as it is tall, filling its box the way a circle does.
What is on it
Each of these is what this flag's own Wikipedia article says is on it, the sentence is underneath, so you can see what it rests on.
- star
In the center of the cloth in a white disk is placed a red crescent, surrounding a red five-pointed star on three sides.

What we know about it
After the Battle of Navarino on 20 October 1827, the Tunisian Bey Hussein II decided on a flag close in appearance to this one, and it was officially approved in 1831; it survived the French protectorate, was proclaimed the state flag of the Republic on 1 June 1959, and had its proportions clarified by a special law on 30 June 1999. Whitney Smith traces the crescent to standards and buildings in the Punic state of Carthage, in what is now Tunisia, long before Muslim countries adopted it.
Drafted from Flag of Tunisia on Wikipedia, as it read on 2026-08-26, and checked back against it: every date, name and number above appears in the sentences it was written from. Nobody here wrote it by hand.
Its days
The almanac keeps a page per day of the year that something is dated to. This flag is on 2 of them, with the sentence that says so.
Nearest in the world
Every flag is compared with every other one, off the pictures themselves. Two copies of one picture score 0; these are the closest to this one. How that is measured.
Star & Crescent
Flags people genuinely mix up. Worth a second look.
