How it is put together

Measured off the picture, the same way the colours were, not from anybody's description of it.

What we know about it

Saint Lucia became an Associated State on 1 March 1967, and on that same day it adopted the flag of the native Saint Lucian artist Dunstan St Omer, in place of the British Blue Ensign defaced with the arms of the colony. When the country became independent on 22 February 1979 the overall design stayed as it was, though the shade of the blue and the sizes of the triangles were modified marginally. And though the island already had its own distinct flag, the official ceremony marking independence still ended with the Union Jack coming down for the last time.

Drafted from Flag of Saint Lucia on Wikipedia, as it read on 2026-08-26, and checked back against it: every date, name and number above appears in the sentences it was written from. Nobody here wrote it by hand.

Its day

The almanac keeps a page per day of the year that something is dated to. This flag is on one of them, with the sentence that says so.

Nearest in the world

Every flag is compared with every other one, off the pictures themselves. Two copies of one picture score 0; these are the closest to this one. How that is measured.
