How it is put together
Nothing the measurement has a word for. It reads eight shapes off a picture: bands, a canton, a wedge at the pole, a disc. This flag is not any of them, so the space is left empty rather than filled with a description nobody took. The finder says what else it cannot see.
What is on it
Each of these is what this flag's own Wikipedia article says is on it, the sentence is underneath, so you can see what it rests on.
- star
The design consists of four horizontal stripes and one vertical stripe, and a single yellow five-pointed star in the upper left.

What we know about it
Barthélemy Boganda, who would become the country's first prime minister, designed it for the United States of Latin Africa he proposed in 1957; the Legislative Assembly of Ubangi-Shari adopted it on 1 December 1958. Blue and white are intended to be symbolic of France, green and yellow of Africa, and the red vertical stripe connects them in unity, and in the respect Europeans and Africans should have for each other. Jean-Bédel Bokassa considered replacing it in 1976 with a design featuring a crescent and star, but the existing flag was re-used by the Central African Empire and remained after the Empire fell.
Drafted from Flag of the Central African Republic on Wikipedia, as it read on 2026-08-29, and checked back against it: every date, name and number above appears in the sentences it was written from. Nobody here wrote it by hand.
Its day
The almanac keeps a page per day of the year that something is dated to. This flag is on one of them, with the sentence that says so.
Nearest in the world
Every flag is compared with every other one, off the pictures themselves. Two copies of one picture score 0; these are the closest to this one. How that is measured.
