How it is put together
Measured off the picture, the same way the colours were, not from anybody's description of it.
- a single-coloured ground
The fly edge and the foot are one colour, and the same one, whatever else is drawn on top of it.
- a canton
A rectangle in the top corner by the pole that is not what the rest of the flag is, and that stops cleanly on both its sides.
What is on it
Each of these is what this flag's own Wikipedia article says is on it, the sentence is underneath, so you can see what it rests on.
- coat of arms
The flag of the Turks and Caicos Islands features a blue ensign with the Union Flag in the canton, defaced with the coat of arms of the Turks and Caicos Islands in the centre-right.

What we know about it
The current flag was adopted on 7 November 1968, and modified in 1999: the shield gained a white outline, and the badge grew to approximately half the hoist width. The coat of arms, granted on 28 September 1965, contains a queen conch shell, lobster, and a Melocactus, the cactus being visually similar to the traditional Turkish fez, which gives the islands the first half of their name. Whether the lobster should have eight or ten legs has been disputed; it is thought to be a Caribbean spiny lobster, which does indeed have ten.

Its day
The almanac keeps a page per day of the year that something is dated to. This flag is on one of them, with the sentence that says so.
Nearest in the world
Every flag is compared with every other one, off the pictures themselves. Two copies of one picture score 0; these are the closest to this one. How that is measured.
