How it is put together
Measured off the picture, the same way the colours were, not from anybody's description of it.
- 5 horizontal bands
The fly edge changes colour going down, the foot does not, and every change is a straight line right across.
- a triangle at the pole
A wedge whose base is the whole pole edge, widest halfway down, in a colour the fly side is not painted in.
What is on it
Each of these is what this flag's own Wikipedia article says is on it, the sentence is underneath, so you can see what it rests on.
- star
It consists of five equal horizontal stripes, alternating from red to white, with a blue equilateral triangle based on the hoist side bearing a large, sharp, upright, five-pointed white star in the center.

What we know about it
In December 1895, 27 years after the failed Grito de Lares revolt, members of the Revolutionary Committee of Puerto Rico replaced the Lares flag with the current design, in partnership with fellow Cuban rebels exiled in New York City; it is based on the flag of Cuba, and its adoption stood for the strong bonds between the Cuban and Puerto Rican revolutionaries. Displaying it in public was outlawed throughout the first half of the 20th century, and in July 1952 it was adopted as the official flag with the establishment of the commonwealth. No specific shade of blue has been made official by law.
