Colours
Read from the flag itself, down to the exact shade.
- #0067c6
- #ffffff
Other flags with white or blue or all of white and blue at once.
How it is put together
Measured off the picture, the same way the colours were, not from anybody's description of it.
- 3 horizontal bands
The fly edge changes colour going down, the foot does not, and every change is a straight line right across.
What is on it
Each of these is what this flag's own Wikipedia article says is on it, the sentence is underneath, so you can see what it rests on.
- sun
The 5 volcanoes represent the original 5 member states, the Cap of Liberty represents national freedom, and the rays of the sun and the rainbow are symbolic of the bright future to come.

- coat of arms
Its flag is one of the few that currently use the color purple, due to the rainbow in its coat of arms.

What we know about it
The flag was first adopted in 1908 and made official on August 27, 1971; reverting to the emblems of the United Provinces of Central America was decided that year, an aspiration for the rebirth of that union. The 5 volcanoes on the coat of arms stand for the original 5 member states, the Cap of Liberty for national freedom, and the rainbow in the arms makes this one of only a handful of flags of a sovereign state to include that colour.
Drafted from Flag of Nicaragua on Wikipedia, as it read on 2026-09-04, and checked back against it: every date, name and number above appears in the sentences it was written from. Nobody here wrote it by hand.
Its day
The almanac keeps a page per day of the year that something is dated to. This flag is on one of them, with the sentence that says so.
Nearest in the world
Every flag is compared with every other one, off the pictures themselves. Two copies of one picture score 0; these are the closest to this one. How that is measured.
