How it is put together

What is on it

Each of these is what this flag's own Wikipedia article says is on it, the sentence is underneath, so you can see what it rests on.

  • star

What we know about it

Cape Verde's first flag, hoisted the day the country became independent on 5 July 1975, was based on the flag of the PAIGC, the party that fought for the independence of Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau from Portugal. After the Movement for Democracy won the two-party election of 1991, a contest was held for a design that would break with the socialist past; the architect Pedro Gregório won it, his stated reason for participating being a flag that no other nation's could be confused with, as the existing one had been with Guinea-Bissau's. The current flag became official on 25 September 1992, and its ten stars represent the ten islands, arranged in a circle to symbolise unity.

Its days

The almanac keeps a page per day of the year that something is dated to. This flag is on 2 of them, with the sentence that says so.

Nearest in the world

Every flag is compared with every other one, off the pictures themselves. Two copies of one picture score 0; these are the closest to this one. How that is measured.
