The foot changes colour going along, the fly edge does not, and every change is a straight line top to bottom.
What is on it
Each of these is what this flag's own Wikipedia article says is on it, the sentence is underneath, so you can see what it rests on.
- tridentthe only one here
A black trident head, commonly called the broken trident, is centred in the golden band, and the fact that the staff is missing is significant.

What we know about it
Grantley W. Prescod, an art teacher, won an open competition judged by seven individuals, with 1,029 entries; the flag was raised for the first time at midnight on 30 November 1966, the day Barbados became independent, by Lieutenant Hartley Dottin of the Barbados Regiment. Prescod also made the first physical flags, approximately seven, out of fabrics chosen at a department store, at the request of Prime Minister Errol Barrow. The three points of the trident stand for government of, for and by the people, and the missing staff for the break from colonial status.

Nearest in the world
