How it is put together
Measured off the picture, the same way the colours were, not from anybody's description of it.
- a single-coloured ground
The fly edge and the foot are one colour, and the same one, whatever else is drawn on top of it.
- a canton
A rectangle in the top corner by the pole that is not what the rest of the flag is, and that stops cleanly on both its sides.
What we know about it
The territory was created in 1985; before that it was administered as a dependency of the Falkland Islands, and used the same flag. The arms were granted by royal warrant on 14 February 1992, and the government then put them on the British Blue Ensign, the custom in British dependencies. A smaller version of the coat-of-arms sat in a white disc on the original flag, and the current one, with the arms in full, was approved and placed on record at the College of Arms, which reported it in June 2006. Roman Klimes' Symbols of Antarctica reads the lion as Britain and the torch as exploration; the reindeer, seal and penguin are local to the islands.

Nearest in the world
Every flag is compared with every other one, off the pictures themselves. Two copies of one picture score 0; these are the closest to this one. How that is measured.
