- #d21034
- #007e3a
Other flags with red or green or all of red and green at once.
How it is put together
Measured off the picture, the same way the colours were, not from anybody's description of it.
- a single-coloured ground
The fly edge and the foot are one colour, and the same one, whatever else is drawn on top of it.
- a border
A frame of one colour round the whole edge, with something else inside every corner of it.
What is on it
Each of these is what this flag's own Wikipedia article says is on it, the sentence is underneath, so you can see what it rests on.
- crescent
The center bears a vertical white crescent; the closed side of the crescent is on the raising side of the flag.

What we know about it
The earliest flag was a plain red field; a striped hoist called the Dhandimathi was added later, and Abdul Majeed Didi added the crescent sometime between 1926 and 1932, during his term as prime minister. When the Maldives became a republic in 1953 the crescent was reversed so that it faced the hoist, and when the country gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1965 the striped hoist was removed, giving the flag its modern form. It was adopted on 25 July 1965.

Its day
The almanac keeps a page per day of the year that something is dated to. This flag is on one of them, with the sentence that says so.
Nearest in the world
Every flag is compared with every other one, off the pictures themselves. Two copies of one picture score 0; these are the closest to this one. How that is measured.
