Colours
Read from the flag itself, down to the exact shade.
- #ce1126
- #ffffff
Other flags with red or white or all of red and white at once.
How it is put together
Measured off the picture, the same way the colours were, not from anybody's description of it.
- 3 horizontal bands
The fly edge changes colour going down, the foot does not, and every change is a straight line right across.
- a disc
A single round device near the middle, as wide as it is tall, filling its box the way a circle does.
What we know about it
The designer was Alfred Chalons, who taught technology and plastic arts at La Mennais high school and entered the competition with the support of his students; on November 20, 1984 it went before the Assembly of French Polynesia, which approved the emblem in its session of November 23. The design is inspired by the flag of the Kingdom of Tahiti, which is the same save for the emblem, which Governor Jean Chastenet de Géry adopted by a letter dated 14 September 1939. A Polynesian canoe rides the wave pattern; its crew of five is represented by the five stars, one for each island group; red and white are traditional Polynesian colours.

Its day
The almanac keeps a page per day of the year that something is dated to. This flag is on one of them, with the sentence that says so.
Nearest in the world
Every flag is compared with every other one, off the pictures themselves. Two copies of one picture score 0; these are the closest to this one. How that is measured.
