What we know about it

This flag came in November 1992, in place of the Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic's flag of 1953, and preserves that flag's choice of colours and its 1:2 proportions; Flag Day falls on 24 November, the date it was officially adopted. The crown stands for the Samanid dynasty and for the Tajik people, whose name is connected in popular etymology with the Persian word tâj, a crown, and there are seven stars because seven signifies perfection and happiness in Persian mythology.
