Other flags with red, white or yellow or all of red, white and yellow at once.
How it is put together
Nothing the measurement has a word for. It reads eight shapes off a picture: bands, a canton, a wedge at the pole, a disc. This flag is not any of them, so the space is left empty rather than filled with a description nobody took. The finder says what else it cannot see.
What is on it
Each of these is what this flag's own Wikipedia article says is on it, the sentence is underneath, so you can see what it rests on.
- cross
The flag of Guernsey was adopted in 1985 and consists of the red Saint George's Cross with an additional gold Norman cross within it.

What we know about it
Until 1985 Guernsey used the flag of England, with King Edward VIII's consent from 1936, and the confusion at the 1982 Commonwealth Games (where Guernsey competed under that flag) was the impetus for one of its own. The Flag Investigation Committee under Deputy Bailiff Sir Graham Dorey settled on a gold cross laid over the St George's Cross: King William the Conqueror's symbol, seen on a banner at the Battle of Hastings that Pope Alexander II had purportedly given him. Queen Elizabeth II granted a Royal Warrant in 1985; the flag was unveiled on 15 February and first flown on Liberation Day, 9 May.
Drafted from Flag of Guernsey on Wikipedia, as it read on 2026-08-26, and checked back against it: every date, name and number above appears in the sentences it was written from. Nobody here wrote it by hand.
Its day
The almanac keeps a page per day of the year that something is dated to. This flag is on one of them, with the sentence that says so.
Nearest in the world
Every flag is compared with every other one, off the pictures themselves. Two copies of one picture score 0; these are the closest to this one. How that is measured.
