What we know about it
Adopted on 11 November 1975, the day Angola became independent from Portugal following a thirteen-year war of independence, the flag is credited to Henrique de Carvalho Santos and is based on the flag of the MPLA, the country's ruling party ever since. The machete stands for peasants and agriculture, the half-cogwheel for workers and industry, and the star for international solidarity and progress. In the original 1975 constitution those last words were revolution and internationalism.

Its day
The almanac keeps a page per day of the year that something is dated to. This flag is on one of them, with the sentence that says so.
Nearest in the world
Every flag is compared with every other one, off the pictures themselves. Two copies of one picture score 0; these are the closest to this one. How that is measured.
